After teaching music full time in schools for almost thirty years I needed to readdress the lack of balance in my life.
Sama in Sanskrit means balance. Sama represents equilibrium, harmony, and stability. It embodies the idea of finding a state of mental, physical, and spiritual balance.
There are many routes to achieving balance - 'sama'.
My chosen path is yoga (union).
Balance is a fundamental aspect of yoga practice. It helps us develop stability, both physically and mentally. When we are balanced, we are able to hold poses with confidence and ease, without straining or feeling off-balance. It also allows us to find inner calmness and peace.
Finding balance in yoga not only enhances our physical strength and stability but also provides several mental and emotional benefits. It helps improve concentration, focus, and overall well-being. It allows us to navigate challenges with better resilience and manage stress effectively. Ultimately, balance in yoga brings us closer to a state of wholeness and harmony in our lives.
